Welcome past and future workshop leaders!
We are currently full on our workshops!
However, you are still welcome to apply to teach at the Whippoorwill Festival, April 25-27, 2025 at the 4H Camp near Carlisle Kentucky.
You will be placed on a waiting list - it is 50-50 likelihood that something will open up.
To share your skills for earth-friendly living, please submit your workshop proposals here (its a Google Form with 10 questions).
We are looking for workshops and activities on the following topics: gardening, permaculture, natural building, fire making, stargazing, foraging, pottery, woodworking, appropriate technology, cooperative skills, herbalism, wellness/self-care and food preparation/preservation.
In addition, we encourage proposals that:
- Are taught by local instructors
- Focus on the skills and folkways of our Appalachian region
- Are aligned with Whippoorwill’s roots in the movement for social and environmental justice in Appalachia. This includes workshop proposals on monitoring soil, water, and air quality, extreme mineral extraction, bioremediation, community organizing, civic engagement, human identity politics, and cultural appropriation.
Instructors receive:
- Free admission to the entire festival
- Vending space to sell your goods/services, if desired.
- Free promotion of your business, including links to your website and Facebook pages, to our social media followers - nearly 2,000 earth-loving people. We will also add links to your pages on our website - please tell us your best site

Pay special attention to the workshop/activity titles, descriptions, and bio sections as these will be used to promote your workshop at the gathering, on the website, and in print.
The following options are available for workshop/activity length:
- Most workshops are 2 hours. We will schedule your workshop with your input
- Workshop: 4 hour - afternoon s only - this longer time slot allows for more in-depth and/or off-site workshops
- Activity: for offerings that fall outside of the normal workshop times due to your unique activity needs. example, 7am morning yoga, 9pm night hike, etc.
